City’s Best: The Midland

Kansas City’s biggest little music venue takes the well-deserved title from our readers.

The Midland was the top vote-getter this year. The historic venue opened in 1927 and re-opened in 2008 with state-of-the-art lighting and sound.

Artists ranging from BB King to Jewel to Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings have graced the stage here. The interior retains its grandeur while the nearby bar The Indie on Main is a convenient place to lounge before or after the show.

This fall, Beatlemaniacs can catch The Fab Four—The Ultimate Tribute (Oct. 5) and ZZ Ward will also bring her brand of blues (Oct. 11) to town.
