In 1996, Terry and Judy Michaelis started making soap, soap that eventually grew into Sunrise Soap Co. At their home in Gardner, they make their sudsy wares with the intention of keeping everyone clean, organically. Other bath and body goods and candles are also included in the mix, but the bar soaps are worth stocking up on.
The soaps are made through the cold process method, starting with essential oils combined into delicious and daring scents.
Adirondack (each $5.50)—made from olive, coconut, palm, canola and castor oils; shea butter and goats milk—smells like a stay in a cozy cabin—invigorating, smooth and comforting.
Perfect for end-of-the-day bathing, Lavender is made from 100-percent pure lavender essential oil and possesses calming and relaxing properties.
By contrast, the Fresh Brewed Coffee soap jumpstarts a morning shower with the scent of coffee grounds, which are added into the ingredients. It’s also great for removing the scent of onion and garlic from hands in the kitchen.
