KC Chamber Announces Top 10 Small Businesses of 2015

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is once again celebrating small businesses.

Companies across the metro submitted applications for the chamber’s 29th annual Small Business Celebration and 10 have been selected.

One of the Top 10 will be crowned KC Chamber’s 2015 Small Business of the Year; receiving the prestigious Mr. K award at the annual awards luncheon May 13. The honor is bestowed to the small business that best exemplifies Mr. K’s business philosophies: strong growth and sustainability, outstanding employee relations and a passion for community service. Past Small Business of the Year honorees include Copaken Brooks, Boulevard Brewing Company, Missouri Bank, and Athletic & Rehabilitation Center (now ARC Physical Therapy+), and the 2014 winner, Bishop-McCann.

The 10 companies, chosen by a panel of judges, were announced at a special private reception presented by Enterprise Bank & Trust at Boulevard Brewing Company.

“The KC Chamber is pleased to serve a diverse cross section of members, and small businesses are an important part of our regional economy,” says Jim Heeter, president and chief executive officer of the KC Chamber. “I’m pleased to see the variety of candidates and certainly don’t envy our judges. It’s going to be tough to pick just one for the Mr. K award. Year after year this celebration recognizes the small business sector and the impact these organizations are having on Kansas City and our economy as a whole.”

The 2015 awards will also include recognition of Legacy of Kansas City, for small companies with longevity in the metro; Diverse Small Business of the Year, geared toward minority business enterprise, veteran-owned business or disabled veteran-owned business and woman-owned business enterprise; and Entrepreneur, for startup or micro companies built on ideology, values, and goals to make change through enrichment.
