KC technology companies looking to attract talent have a new tool in their arsenal.
KCnext – the Technology Council of Greater Kansas City has launched Chute, a new way for tech companies to attract topnotch talent from around the world.
Chute highlights what is specifically important to tech talent—company culture, the KC region’s unique tech scene, KC’s lifestyle and available jobs—through company profiles, KC-specific imagery and information that helps candidates envision themselves living in Kansas City and working at a specific company.
“U.S. cities are in a global race for tech talent, and with the launch of Chute, the KC region is about to get a lot more competitive,” says Ryan Weber, president of KCnext. “In addition to filling the thousands of tech jobs open in the KC region today, we have to further position this market as a destination for tech talent to meet projected workforce needs for the future.”
KCnext worked closely with Cerner, DST Systems, The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Garmin and Sprint as advisors and launch partners in Chute, which is designed for any employer interested in marketing job opportunities in the KC region to technology professionals across the United States.
Companies can sign up and create a user profile at www.chutekc.com and begin posting jobs immediately. Job openings are posted for 30 days and can be renewed or archived. Other features include high quality imagery to showcase workplace assets, integrated social media feeds and real-time notifications when candidates apply for positions.
“Chute is a great example of how industry collaboration results in tangible solutions to address the workforce need in Kansas City,” says KCnext Board of Directors Chairman Kevin McGinnis of Sprint/Pinsight Media+. “Earlier this year, the KCnext Board of Directors collectively made workforce our top priority. KCnext represents a united front where tech companies can work together for the benefit of the entire region.”
A national marketing campaign kicks off in October at Techweek New York, where the Chute team will promote tech jobs in KC at the event’s hiring fair. The campaign continues in November at Techweek LA, then rolls out to college campuses in the first quarter of 2016. The Chute team will be visible at a variety of events across the country that attract a large number of technology professionals, including South by Southwest.
