Brookside presents its Holiday Season Opener with outdoor music, pop-up events and giveaways 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. Take advantage of a whiskey tasting by Dark Horse Distillery at The New Dime Store, photos with Santa at Fit Formula (with proceeds going to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and performances from Holiday Trombones and UMKC Conservancy Carolers, plus choirs from St. Peter’s School and Border Star Elementary 6-7:30 p.m. The evening also includes food and drink specials, and World’s Window is collecting new and gently used winter coats and sweaters for Rose Brooks Center.
It’s your first chance to get a look at the neighborhood’s festive window displays and holiday merchandise, and the event kicks off Brookside’s annual Open House Weekend, with participating retailers open for extended hours. Spend $200 Nov. 12-15 at merchants and get a $20 Brookside gift card free.
Trapp and Company’s Nov. 12-15 holiday open house has a French twist thanks to the exclusive Gardens of France Trapp candle and fragrance, Chanel inspired faux pearls, jewelry and clothing fit for holiday parties. The festive seasonal market also features French champagne, wines, foods and mini presentations with Alliance Francaise French professors and new French guidebooks and cookbooks. Walk the streets of Park Place to the sound of Dickensian carolers during the shopping and dining district’s holiday open house Saturday, Nov. 14, complete with beautiful holiday decor and free horse-drawn carriage rides 1-3 p.m. Special offers include 20 percent off one item at Alysa Rene, a trunk show featuring metalsmith and contemporary artists Leia Zumbro at TallulahBelle’s, sips and nibbles at Hand & Land 2-5 p.m. and Gordon Biersch’s happy hour menu prices until 4 p.m.
You won’t be the only one benefitting from the festivities at Mission Farms’ Nov. 19 Holidays at the Farms Open House. The event from 5-7 p.m. is a fundraiser for Variety Club of Greater Kansas City. The evening includes specials, giveaways, the Photo Bus, the Jeweled Gypsy and more.
The event also marks the opening of KC Design Creative, a holiday pop-up shop featuring brands such as Red Dirt, Alicia Janesko, Erin Paige Designs, 74 Harley Street and many others. The store will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays throughout the holidays.
